This inspirational dinner celebrating National Disability Awareness Month in March provides an opportunity to present scholarships to high school seniors who have cerebral palsy and to also recognize winning essayists of our annual “Attitude” Essay Contest. The competition encourages Indiana children in grades 3rd – 8th to write essays about how attitudes can serve as bridges or barriers for people with disabilities. Also honored at this event are key people making a difference in our agency and the clients we serve.

Guest Speaker:

Sharon M. Draper - Award-Winning Author & National Teacher of the Year

Dr. Sharon M. Draper is a professional educator and accomplished writer. Her honors include National Teacher of the Year, five-time winner of the Coretta Scot King Literary Award, and is a New York Times bestselling author. She has been honored at the White House six times, and was chosen as one of only four authors in the country to speak at the National Book Festival Gala in Washington, D.C. Located on the west side of Illinois Street just across from the museum. A skywalk connects the garage to the museum’s Welcome Center. There are also accessible spaces in the lot located on the east side of Illinois Street just north of the museum. Drop-off is available at the front of the Museum on Illinois Street.
